Unboxing Our New Board: 2Faced
This used to be your soft plastics… and now it’s strong enough to build with. 👀♻️ Watch how saveBOARD takes your soft plastics and transforms it into durable, high-performance building boards. It’s not just recycling. It’s a smarter, circular way to build that actually reduces waste at scale. If you think waste has no value, this will change your mind.
The Ultimate Outdoor Dartboard
Luke Littler might be the world champ, but even the best needs a solid backup. 🎯 Check out how we used saveBOARD 2Faced to create the ultimate outdoor dart board setup. Whether you’re hitting 180s or maybe not we have you covered. It’s made from 100% post-consumer soft plastics, literally the packaging you drop off at the supermarket, upcycled into a durable DIY board. Why it's a game-changer: Weatherproof: Submerge it in water, leave it in the rain—it won’t rot or delaminate. Tough: Protects your walls (and your neighbor’s fence!) from wayward darts. Double-sided: Black on one side, White on the other. It’s not trying to be a perfect, it has character, creases, and texture. But as a sustainable alternative to untreated plywood ♻️
Australian National Recycling Week!
But let's be honest: Recycling has no purpose......unless you buy recycled. Installing recycling bins is only the beginning. Real change happens when companies and individuals choose products made from those recycled materials. That’s how we close the loop and create circular economy solutions. Our short video reel shows what your post-consumer soft plastics really look like when they get to recyclers like saveBOARD! It is possible to turn hard-to-recycle waste into high-performance products. When you specify or use saveBOARD, you’re not just buying a building material. You are creating the demand that makes recycling possible, underpins investment and creates innovation in the industry. You’re not really recycling unless you buy recycled materials and products.
Pimp My Trailer: saveBOARD Edition
On the last working day of 2025, Paul's 18-year-old trailer really needed a birthday. 🎂 The plywood was done for, but instead of replacing it with new timber, we decided to do some real-world R&D. We overlaid the deck with our 100% soft plastics board, made entirely from upcycled supermarket packaging! 🛒♻️ The result? ⏱️ Install: 10 minutes with the team. 💪 The Test: Loaded up with heavy stones the very next day for a garden project before Christmas guests arrived. First Impressions? It handled the heavy load perfectly and the shovel guided smoothly over the surface during unloading. Note it needs close spacing screws as the board can thermally expand to prevent short term bulges
From Plastic to Panel… Watch This
It starts with something most people overlook, soft plastics. We use soft plastic collected from the Soft Plastic Recycling Scheme; so, instead of being discarded, it goes through a process that transforms them into something solid, usable, and built to last. This is where saveBOARD’s 2Faced begins. Through a controlled manufacturing process, those materials are compressed and formed into durable boards that can be used across a wide range of applications. What was once flexible and fragile becomes strong, structured, and ready for real-world use. 2Faced is more than just a product, it is a shift in how materials are used. By turning soft plastics into high-performance boards, saveBOARD is showing that better solutions already exist, they just need to be used.
The DIY Bike Ramp That Actually Holds Up
Don't try this at home, its just a bit of fun showing how robust and flexible our 2Faced board is as Paul lets his son ride over him. No humans were hurt filming this but it's not a recommend application!
Don’t Make This Mistake With Your Offcuts 🤯
It is easy to focus on the build and forget what comes after. When working with saveBOARD 2Faced, the small shavings and offcuts might not seem like a big deal, but how you handle them actually matters. This video highlights the simple step that too many people overlook during the process. Instead of letting leftover material scatter or wash away, proper collection and disposal keeps your workspace cleaner and prevents those small particles from ending up where they should not be. It is a quick habit to build, but one that makes a real difference over time, especially across repeated projects. saveBOARD’s 2Faced is designed with sustainability in mind, made from recycled composite packaging, but responsible use does not stop at the product itself. Taking care of the shavings and disposing of them correctly is part of the bigger picture, helping ensure that the impact stays positive from start to finish.
A Pickup Truck vs This Board...
Who Wins the Fight 🥊💥
You don’t usually question what a building material can handle until you actually see it tested. In this case, a full ute truck rolls right over the 2Faced board from saveBOARD. No tricks, no cuts, no reinforcement gimmicks. Just raw, real-world pressure applied in the most unforgiving way possible. What makes this moment even more surprising is what happens after. You’d expect cracking, bending, or at least some visible failure point. Instead, the board holds its ground like nothing happened. It’s the kind of result that forces you to rethink what “durable” actually means in construction materials. saveBOARD’s 2Faced isn’t just built to look strong on paper. It’s engineered to perform under extreme load conditions where failure isn’t an option. And when you can drive a vehicle over it and walk away with zero visible damage, it stops being just a claim and starts becoming proof.
This Board Doesn’t Care About Water… Literally
Most materials start to fail the moment water gets involved. Swelling, warping, breakdown you name it. But in this test, the 2Faced board from saveBOARD is fully exposed to water and just… holds up. No softening, no visible damage, no structural change. What makes this interesting is what it’s made from. Recycled soft plastics aren’t usually associated with strength or water resistance, yet once formed into a composite they provide a waterproof product for different applications.
Everyone’s Switching After Seeing This 👀
Cutting into saveBOARD’s 2Faced shows just how clean, consistent, and workable the material really is. No unnecessary layers, no complicated prep, just a smooth process from start to finish. What makes the difference is how the board is designed to perform while you work with it. It cuts efficiently, holds its structure, and stays reliable throughout the process. That means less time dealing with issues and more time actually getting the job done. And it is not just about performance. 2Faced is made from recycled composite packaging, turning everyday materials into something durable and practical. It is a straightforward example of how better materials can make both the job and the outcome that much stronger.

Where we get our soft plastics from
saveBOARD's 2Faced product is made from 100% soft plastic material collected through the Soft Plastic Recycling Scheme.
This programme is operated by industry body, The Packaging Forum, and has been providing Kiwis with the opportunity to recycle their household soft plastic material at supermarkets and stores for more than 10 years. The Soft Plastic Recycling Scheme is 100% funded by its 250+ members and is proud to work alongside organisations such as saveBOARD to support New Zealand's circular economy by helping ensure as much soft plastic packaging as possible gets a second life as a new product, instead of ending up in landfill. There are more than 300 places across New Zealand where you can drop off your household soft plastic for recycling, to find out where check out https://www.recycling.kiwi.nz/store-locator
