Doing Your Part on Climate Change
Saturday morning on the mountain was perfect. By 1pm high winds and whiteout condition had closed most of the lifts. By Sunday morning we were driving down through a whiteout, sub-zero, I had to chisel the ice off the windscreen with the back of a ski.
Last weekend I took the kids up for one last trip to the snow before the mountain closes due to lack of snow. The spring skiing was good in the morning, thin base though which meant going off-piste was difficult. Then a polar blast rolled in. Wind picked up, the mountain closed, the snow came in and we drove down the access road slowly as I was not prepared with snow chains at this time of the year.
My ten year old summed it up better than any forecaster. "Dad, this is climate change."
I told her saveBOARD is doing its small part. She came straight back with the question. "What is everyone else doing?"
I don’t really have an answer because there isn't one. It only works if enough people, companies, governments do their part. Ours is tiny, however we know every panel made saves recyclable packaging from landfill. We make circular building products that we’ve engineered so they perform as a wall or a ceiling, they help keep a home warm, keep it dry.
If you're weighing up building materials, the case is simple. A home built well sleeps better, costs less to run, and doesn't cost the earth to make. Do your part. We'll keep doing ours.
